Long Winter Without Fire
So you wait in Taupo on good weather, which will go on probably the most famous mountain route in New Zealand - Tongariro Crossing. Cold is the night frosts are even, but apparently New Zealanders are great optimists and do not see the need for assembly of central heating. Yes, in przemilym hostel, where we installed there is no heating! Fortunately, comfortable beds, extra blankets, luxurious bathrooms and friendly crew (and especially deadly handsome Norwegian Lars, who looks rather on the Spaniard;>) reward Chlodek evocative. Besides, said to be sleeping well at low temperatures, influences her beauty;)
In the interval between the rain I went for a walk along the Waikato River, the longest in New Zealand. The river is beautiful, emerald green color in areas where flows peacefully, and where it cascades down falls, is a white-blue as ice. Huka Falls have carried such a powerful amount of water, within just one minute could fill three Olympic swimming pools!
far from the town the river flows into a small stream and There would be nothing if not for the fact that the stream is hot. So after quite a long walk (about 11km) of abusing a momentary pleasure but clear, warm threw clothes and jumped into a natural outdoor hot tub ... Very nice and free!
Today, unfortunately, brought a day of bad tidings: the high mountains still bad weather, strong winds blow too, that the power move on the trail, and on improving the longer I can not wait longer. So I will remain only a memory Tongoriro Park and its volcanic peaks seen from afar.
In the foreground is a huge Lake Taupo, and not the sea, though the waves could provide otherwise.
Tomorrow I'm heading to Napier - a city almost entirely built in Art Deco style, and why this is so, you'll find out soon!
